Product Description

Between Arta and the massif of Tzoumerka lies Lake Pournario. It is an artificial lake, which was created by the construction of a dam on the Arachthos River near the settlement of Pournari. This particular dam is the second largest dam in Greece and holds back the waters of Arachthos controlling the flow of the river. Lake Pournario is home to many varieties of fish, such as carp, bream, wild trout, and eels. Many birds also find refuges, such as mallards, kingfishers, and river whistlers.
